Relaxed, guided family sessions in Langley and the Fraser Valley, built around genuine expression, not stiff rows of matching sweaters. As a father of two, I know how quickly this stage goes.
Book a Family SessionSince 2016 I have photographed families as they grow: first steps, new siblings, grandparents, and everyday connection. Sessions are guided but never stiff: I direct just enough to make everyone comfortable, then let the real moments happen.
A folder of files is where most sessions stop. Prints, framed wall art, and albums are available with every family session, and I'll help you choose the pieces and sizes that actually suit your walls before anything is ordered.
Lay-flat pages, linen or leather covers, and a photo inset on the front. Designed as a sequence rather than a dump of favourites, so the session reads like a story your kids can pull off the shelf.
Triptych sets: three frames from one session, hung together as a single piece.
Professionally printed and colour-managed on archival paper, so what you hang matches what you approved on screen. Loose, matted, or mounted.
Sized to the wall, not to the file. Most families under-size their first piece: we'll look at the space together and get the scale right the first time.
Every session still includes high-resolution digital files with personal print rights. Prints and albums are an option, never a requirement.
A 30-minute session at the Langley studio with 10 finished images. Enough time for the whole family, plus a few of the kids on their own.
A full hour at the studio with 20 finished images. Room for several setups: everyone together, the kids, the couple, the grandparents.
75 minutes at Fort Langley, Campbell Valley, White Rock or a spot that means something to you, with 20 finished images.
Every session includes high-resolution files with personal print rights. Prints and albums are an option, never a requirement.
Every stage gets its own kind of session: full or mini format, studio or outdoors.
Relaxed portraits before your newest arrival: solo, with a partner, or with big-siblings-to-be. In studio or at golden hour outdoors.
Six months, first birthdays, and the stages in between: short, playful sessions that keep up with how fast they change.
Grandparents, cousins, reunions: large groups organized so nobody stands around, with photo combinations planned ahead.
I'll recommend a spot based on your family, the season, and the light. These are the ones families ask for most.
Heritage main street, the riverfront, and warm evening light, the most-requested location, minutes from the studio.
Forest trails, boardwalks, and tall-grass meadows that glow in late summer, then turn gold in October.
A creek, mossy forest, and spring blossoms, lovely for younger kids who need room to wander.
Fraser River banks and farmland edges with big-sky sunsets, quiet even on busy weekends.
Open meadows and gentle hills, made for families who want movement, chasing, and candids.
Sand, driftwood, and sea air about 25 minutes away: the classic golden-hour beach session.
Prefer controlled light, or need a rainy-week backup? The Langley studio delivers clean, timeless portraits year-round.
Coordinate, don't match: pick 2–3 soft colours and mix textures. Avoid neon and big logos. Most importantly, dress kids in clothes they feel good in. Comfortable kids photograph beautifully.
The last two hours before sunset give outdoor sessions their glow. Late spring through October books fastest (fall-colour weekends go first), and winter belongs to the studio. Seasonal minis are announced a few times a year.
"He was patient, thoughtful, and very intuitive with both adults and children, allowing the session to flow effortlessly without feeling rushed or forced."
"If you're looking for photos that feel polished while still being fun and truly you, I couldn't recommend Volkan more highly."
"He was patient, warm, and great at capturing natural smiles from the whole family. The quality of the photos truly exceeded our expectations."
A 30-minute studio mini is $295 with 10 finished images. A full studio session is $525 with 20, and an outdoor session is $525 for 75 minutes plus a location fee. Extra images are $25 each, or $150 unlocks the whole gallery.
Outdoors: the last two hours before sunset, late spring through fall. October colour weekends book out first. In winter, the studio keeps sessions warm and easy.
We watch the forecast together and either reschedule at no charge or move to the Langley studio, your choice.
That's normal, and planned for. Sessions are play-based and guided, not posed rows. I photograph around 1,500 children a year at preschool photo days, and I'm a father of two: wiggly is my specialty.
You pick favourites from a private online gallery; finished, professionally retouched images are delivered digitally with print rights, with the option to purchase more. Fine-art prints, framed wall art, and albums can be ordered from the same gallery.
Yes. Maternity and milestone sessions run in studio or outdoors, as a 30-minute mini or a full session. Many families book them as a series across the year.
