Photo night is usually one more job on a volunteer's list. The schedule, the roster, the parent notice, and the ordering are handled at my end, so a convenor's whole task is telling teams where to stand.

Individual portraits, banners & composites
Every athlete gets their own portrait, directed rather than counted down. The same file becomes the roster photo, the banner on a bedroom wall, and the composite the coach hangs in the clubhouse.

Clean-background portraits and small-group work for club websites, rosters, socials, and tournament programs, shot in the studio when a club wants more than photo-night frames.
Practice keeps running while photos happen
The set-up needs one corner of the gym and about half an hour before the first team. Two stations run side by side: individual portraits at the lights, the team photo staged next to it. Athletes come off the court in warm-up order and go straight back to drills.
Each athlete gets real direction rather than a countdown, because a team photo lives on a wall for years. Younger divisions get the earliest slots, older teams the later ones, and the whole night runs against a printed schedule your team managers get in advance.

Martial arts academies
Belt portraits and grading-day photos, stance and form shots on the mat, class and dojo group photos, plus instructor portraits for the school's website. Dark gis lit so the fabric and the belt still read.
Volleyball and martial arts are where most of my team work has been so far, but the rolling-station format travels to any indoor or field sport: soccer, basketball, baseball, hockey, cheer, and multi-sport associations. Tell me your season and roster size and I'll build the schedule around it.

Action coverage is booked separately from portrait night, and it goes back a long way: league and tournament play, road races and fun runs, skate parks and race trails, photographed across the Lower Mainland since 2016.
